My husband, Andy, and I love a good brunch! I have to be honest; Moving from Austin, TX to Tulsa, OK, I was a little bit unsure of what I was getting myself into food-wise but all it took was a couple visits to Tulsa to find that there were plenty of delicious restaurants for us to frequent! We are so lucky to be living in an area of Tulsa where there are some super successful restaurants with awesome menus! Tulsa is pretty big on keeping it local so many of the restaurants use locally grown vegetables and farm-to-table meats. Dilly Diner is one of our favorite places to get brunch. It has such an old-school diner feel with a few modern details mixed in. This restaurant is always packed on Sundays for brunch but typically wait time goes pretty quickly! As an added bonus, they provide water and coffee while you’re waiting which Andy and I love because we’re definitely big coffee drinkers in the morning.
Andy and I have actually only been to Dilly Diner for Sunday brunch so I can’t speak on their lunch and dinner menu but if I was basing it off their brunch menu, I would bet it’s good! The brunch menu is not super extensive but each dish has it’s own personal flair and the food quality is consistent. The menu is split between “sweet” and “savory” dishes which I think is clever and also practical. I always get savory and Andy always goes with sweet 🙂
My menu recommendations:
Breakfast Burrito: Fassler Hall chorizo, scrambled eggs, Monterey Jack, peppers & onions. Topped with cilantro crema & avocado
Breakfast Tacos: Scrambled eggs, avocado, cilantro, cotija, & chipotle aioli
Grilled Cheese: American, cheddar, Provolone & griddled tomato on brioche
Tomato Soup: (This one is pretty self-explanatory but it is SO creamy and good) pairs great with their grilled cheese
As you can see from my recommendations, I like to stick with the basics. Honestly, most of the time we go I just get the breakfast tacos. Being born and raised in Texas, I have an unnatural obsession with all things breakfast taco. If it’s a bit more cold, though, I love getting the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Since we’re going for brunch we normally get a carafe of mimosas too!
Pro tip: If you are SUPER hungry or just with a larger group, they also have a giant cinnamon roll called “The Jed” that is SO GOOD. Definitely a must try!
Outfit Details: I am a huge bargain shopper and definitely always looking for a great deal. As a kid, I pretty much grew up in thrift stores (my mom is a thrifting queen :p ). One of my favorite things to do is find things at thrift stores that are great quality but aligned with current fashion trends! It’s a little game I play to find something old and make it modern looking. This little denim button down dress is a thrift store find. I paired it with a basic white tee from Gap and these velvet slides that I found for $6 bucks at Target! The bag is current season Universal Thread line (also from Target). I’m actually pretty into this Universal Thread Line. For a long while I felt like all the clothing at Target was horrible quality and while I don’t think it’s always the best, I find a few of the lines they have brought in recently to be just as good as some of the other clothing I find at boutiques or corporate retailers. One of the other things I like about finding some of my clothing at Target is that it is pretty much always super trendy, but also affordable! Since trends don’t always stick around, I like being able to try out different looks with minimal financial commitment!
